Took a couple weeks off from the radio, but I'm back at it, just in time for WYCE's Fall Fund Drive! Spent the early part of my show with Pete, telling people why they should love our radio station & donate to the fund drive, and then I had the studio to myself for the last two hours. I mostly put this show together at Rowster Saturday morning, drinking a maple latte. Played a lot of newer music at the top of the show, but opened up with a classic and a fave of mine -- Gorillaz's "Empire Ants."

 

I played 2026 releases from Arlo Parks, Lizzy McAlpine, Sylvan Esso, Lido Pimienta, Jungle, Jobi Riccio, Dottie Andersson, Courtney Barnett, Flea, Vince Staples, Boy Golden, Erykah Badu, and Lucy Dacus.

Faves from the show were: "Hot Slob" by Sylvan Esso, "Babycake" by Dottie Andersson, "Thinkin' Bout You" by Flea, "Boy" by Ra Ra Riot, "Music From A Found Harmonium" by Penguin Cafe Orchestra, and Lucy Dacus' take on "Clay Pigeons."

This show inspired a deeper dive into Sylvan Esso's new album (Welcome back to Spotify, Queen! I tried to leave, too. Spotify has its lethal grasp on us all.) and Dottie Andersson's whole discography, which reminds me a lot of Grace Ives (also on heavy repeat these days).
